Direct Referral Criteria for NDBTU Apprenticeship Programs

These criteria were established in June 2025 by the DPARP team to provide the most appropriate assistance to individuals interested in getting into one of the 15 NDBTU apprenticeship programs. 

Criteria

  • 4+ years of construction experience with the same contractor and/or in the same field of construction (concrete, insulation, electrical, heavy equipment operation, etc.).
  • Completion in an Apprenticeship Readiness Program (must have completion certificate).
  • Completion of credentialed degree from a post-secondary educational institution in a construction related field (building trades, welding, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Previously indentured in a Registered Apprenticeship Program (must state reason for cancellation of indenture agreement).

If you meet at least 1 of these criteria we do not find it necessary for you to take the full 12 week Apprenticeship Readiness Program.
